Practical advice before requesting a quote

💡 Have this information ready to speed up processing

  • Exact dates and duration of the event (or annual operation for a site)
  • Number of participants and spectators expected
  • Disciplines practiced and level of risk (amateur vs pro)
  • Gross revenue planned or realized last year
  • Claims history for the last 5 years (if applicable)
  • Site maps, photos of the circuit or race regulations

Available throughout Quebec

The powersports insurance program is offered through our partner firms throughout Quebec, including in the regions of Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Gatineau and Drummondville. Brokers are familiar with the specifics of each regional market and the requirements of municipalities for hosting motorized events.

⚠️ Things to remember before hosting an event

Most municipalities, circuit owners and sports federations require a valid certificate of insurance before renting a venue or issuing an event permit. Allow 5 to 15 business days to get the contract — don’t do it at the last minute.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does my tour or site need to be insured for?
At a minimum, civil liability towards spectators and participants, as well as buildings and equipment (fire, theft). If you are leasing the site to developers, ask for a certificate of insurance that names you as an additional insured.
How much does insurance cost for a one-time event?
Premiums are indicative and vary by discipline, number of participants, number of days, expected earnings and claims history. The premium is determined after a complete analysis of the file by the broker.
Are drivers automatically covered?
Not necessarily. The organizer’s policy usually covers their liability, not the drivers’ liability for their own damages. Professional drivers often take out a separate individual policy (accident, participant liability, competition vehicle).
Are the spectators covered?
Yes, by the civil liability of the organizer or the owner of the site. Check the contract limits — $2 million is a minimum for an event with an audience; some municipalities require $5 million.
Which activities are automatically excluded?
This varies depending on the insurer and the contract, but certain very high-risk disciplines (speed records, unsupervised extreme jumps) may be excluded. Discuss openly with your broker the planned activities to avoid surprises.
Can I insure only one event?
Yes, many insurers offer “one shot” policies for a specific event. You only pay for the duration (1 to 7 days typically). Ideal for a club that organizes a single annual race.
Is my competition vehicle covered by my regular car insurance?
No. Personal car insurance policies exclude almost all uses on the track or in competition. You need a specialized “competition vehicle” policy that covers direct damage (collision, fire, theft).
How long does it take to subscribe to a full program?
For a simple event, allow 5 to 10 business days. For a permanent site with several activities, 2 to 4 weeks are to be expected: specialized insurers often ask for plans, photos and detailed information on operations.
