A group insurance program (also known as affinity insurance or group property and casualty insurance) is an agreement that your association, federation, professional order, club or union sets up with one or more insurers. Under this agreement, your members get negotiated terms on their individual insurance — car, home, business, RV, motorcycle — that they wouldn’t be able to get on their own.
In concrete terms: each member remains responsible for his or her own policy, pays his or her own premium, and retains his or her direct relationship with the insurer. What changes is that belonging to your organization entitles it to a preferential rate, personalized services and sometimes extended coverage. The organization, on the other hand, pays nothing and carries no risk — it offers a tangible social benefit to its members.
